hi Friends

I have developed 'Sudokool' , a cool pc version of the popular
game sudoku. I developed it as part of my Core Java Project.
I m giving a preview below

Image
The game is platform independent n tested successfully on linux n windows.
You can download latest version of the game from here

U need the jre 1.5.x to run game, although jre 1.4.2 will work ,but looks
will not be so cool.

Alternatively if u have JDK 1.4 or 1.5 then u don't need jre bcoz jre comes
included in JDK.

You can download jre 1.5 from here

Please give me ur feedback and comments after playing my first
software " Sudokool" here

OK i googled it and found this
Quote:
" Fill in the grid so that every row,
every column, and every 3x3 box
contains the digits 1 through 9. "

OK thats the game. It would have been better if cheetah_1 told this before. But since according to himsudoku was so popular that he refrained himself from posting any details.
This is the site of the original game: http://www.sudoku.com/

and from the site and google search i came to the following conclusion:

The game sudoku is indeed popular among its fans and knowledge of 31337 on games is infinitesimally meagre.

warning : some people are known to become irritant on seeing phpBB forums with the default subsilver theme. Such people are requested not to visit the users forum on above mentioned website.

Dear 31337,I know only one of the `some people` who get irritated........he is also the same person to ask to see Google first (and what a coincidence, you DID see Google )before posting (uh..........you did AFTER posting, though) Thank goodness you did not give a link directly to the bulletin boards  otherwise he would have........
But..............how did YOU know about this :?: You registered on the 6th of June, whereas the post about getting irritated was made on the 30th of March. Were you reading the posts made before you registered :? :?:
THAT post lies at http://forums.pcquest.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13118#13118
Yours faithfully,

Sudoku puzzles are so popular nowadays that many of the daily newspapers carry sudoku puzzles daily eg. Times Of India.
@31337 has already given a link for sudoku. Thanks.
My game is actually a solver n u can play puzzles from newspapers, books etc. by directly entering onto the grid. The game library has 50 puzzles each in 3 difficulty levels (easy, medium n hard ). User can add more puzzles to the library.
Since it was my Core Java Project, i made this game just for fun n hope u will enjoy the cool experience of Sudokool.I don't intend to give any competition to any commercial sudoku game.
I have even released the source code of this game on my homepage.

Dear cheetah_1,please register with sourceforge.net especially if you have made the source code available..........for managing your game as a software project,it will obviously be FAR better than Geocities :D
Yours faithfully,

Dear Friends,
I have updated Sudokool to V 2.5
Now Sudokool has all the features of commercial sudoku games, to summarise as follows :

1. Play unlimited puzzles in 4 difficulty levels : Simple, Easy, Medium and Hard.
2. Can be controlled with both mouse and keyboard.
3. Statistics like how many puzzles generated/completed, avg timings etc. stored
3. Option to play with Hints : view all the possibilities on the puzzle grid.
3. Option to play with warnings in case of wrong entries.
4. User can input puzzle (from newspapers) directly on the grid. Then puzzle is validated and if solution is unique, it can be played.
5. User can save and load Games.
6. 3 fastest timings in each difficulty level are recorded and updated on each puzzle submission.
7. Game can be paused and resumed during gameplay.
8. Platform independent : Based on Java, Sudokool works flawlessly on all the platforms (personally I have tested on Ubuntu 8.10 and Windows Vista)
9. Puzzle window can be resized and the window is loaded to this size next time automatically.
10. Cool looks to provide the best GUI experience.
11. Last but not the least : It is absolutely FREE !!!

Do download and give me your valuable feedback.

Thanks

cheetah_1 this is so neat.. You know what I was going through Intel's site and found this place where you could monetize your Apps. If you haven't checked it out. you should submit this App to Intel's Atom Developer Program. http://bit.ly/Atom_Dev
