I want to assemble a system with Support of 64bit Windows 2008 Server (Virtualisation).

Please let me know which Motherboard+Processor (both Intel and AMD Platform) will support Windows 2008 Virtualisation and approx price.

Almost all XEON motherboards will, so will X58 motherboards with Core i7 920/930+ processors. Some 1156 motherboards+processors like core i7-860 also support Virtualizations, i7-750 support VT-x, 860 supports VT-x & VT-d. If you are talking brands, ASUS, Intel and Gigabyte all usually support VT based on processor installed.

Hi,
A few specific ones are as follows:

Intel
Motherboard--Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Price:-Rs.11,000
Processors-- Core 2 Quad Price:-Rs.8,000 Onward

AMD
Motherboard:- Asus Crosshair IV Price:-Rs.13,000
Processors:- AMD PhenomII X4 965 Price:-Rs.11,500

But these are all desktop class motherboards. Server motherboards supporing Intel Xeon or AMD Opteron processors would be much more expensive.

cheers,
Anil

thank you for your suggestions.

i required this info for a friend of mine, who just purchased Core2Duo 2.50GHz, intel DQ45CB with 2gb ddr2 ram.

we are going to test this system with Windows 2008 Server Hyper-V and also with XEN/KVM & VirtualBox on RHEL 5.4.
